Pasadena Weather

Pasadena, California is a popular tourist destination because of the great weather most of the year round.  If you’re planning to visit this are of the country, you’ll want to consider staying in a Pasadena cheap hotel.  There is so much to do around Pasadena that the money you save one of the many Pasadena cheap hotels can be put to use elsewhere.

The weather in Pasadena is temperate most of the year.  The average temperature is 76 degrees Fahrenheit, but don’t let that average fool you.  It can get pretty hot in the summer months.  Luckily your Pasadena cheap hotel will most certainly have air conditioning.

During the winter months, the average high temperature will be in the high 60 degree Fahrenheit range.  Average lows run in the high 40s to low 50s.  It is not uncommon however, to have an overnight low or two in the 30s.  If you’re staying in a Pasadena cheap hotel over the winter months, you may even see the snow covered mountains from your window. One of the most intriguing things about this area is that, during the winter months, you can go skiing in the morning and visit the beach in the afternoon.  Unless you head on up to the mountains, you will not need a winter coat.  A lightweight jacket will be more than sufficient, but a scarf and gloves might be a nice precaution.

Spring comes early to the region.  Usually things start warming up in mid-February.  The average temperature is in the low 70s, but it is not unheard of to experience days in the 80s or even 90s.  It is still cool in the evenings however, usually dipping into the 50s.  So it’s wise to bring a lightweight jacket or sweater for the evenings.

Once March and April have arrived there is pretty much no need for outerwear.  Daytime temperatures run consistently in the mid-70s.  Nighttime lows are in the mid to high 50s.  This is particularly good time to visit the area if you are interested in horticulture.  Cacti and flowering trees are in full bloom.  Often you can see the beautiful purple flowers of a blooming Jacaranda tree from your Pasadena cheap hotel.  April brings the first flush of rose blooms.  Pasadena is affectionately known as Rose City.  The annual Rose Bowl and Rose Parade are hosted in Pasadena on January 1st.  There are numerous arboretums and gardens open to the public.  The Huntington Gardens house a number of notable collections many of which bloom year round, but springtime is especially colorful.

May and June are quite beautiful in southern California as well.  However, even though the average high temperature is in the high 70s, the temperature can often get quite hot for a few days at a time.  Mostly though, this is the perfect time of year.

July through September are the least desirable months to visit.  It can be brutally hot for days on end, the skies are hazy and often yellowish.  Vegetation on the hillsides begins to die off due to a lack of moisture and extreme heat.  This is also fire season, although it’s never quite as bad as the media makes it out to be!  There are still many things to do and see in the region.  If you are planning a trip to the region during this period you should be able to secure your Pasadena cheap hotel at a lower rate than the rest of the year because the climate is less desirable at this time.  Average lows are clocked at 65 degrees, but often it does not get below 70.  Air conditioning is a must in your Pasadena cheap hotel!

Once October rolls around, the temperatures are back into the high 70s during the day and 60s in the evening.  It is also the beginning of the rainy season.  Rain in southern California is like the song says, it doesn’t rain, it pours… or it drizzles and the news media makes a huge deal out of it.

There are 2,500 hotel rooms in Pasadena.  If you are planning on being in the area during the week of the Rose Bowl or Rose Parade (those events both occur on January 1st) it is a good idea to book your accommodations in one of Pasadena cheap hotels well in advance.  All 2,500 hotel rooms in Pasadena, and hotels as far away as Long Beach and Anaheim are sold out to accommodate visitors to the area during this time.  This is the busiest season for Pasadena’s cheap hotels.
